Uganda

Speakers of non-dominant languages constitute just eight percent of the total world population, but account for over forty percent of those classified as non-literate.

SIL education specialists partner with local communities, government and non-government agencies, and academic institutions. Together we plan and implement strong, sustainable multilingual education (MLE) programmes in these communities. Training teachers, developing learning materials, evaluating progress, informing policy, and advocating for support are but a few key components of a robust literacy programme which helps students of all ages bridge successfully from confidence in their first language to learning well in other languages.
