Some background information
A trial orthography for writing the language was created in 2012 with technical assistance from SIL Uganda. This was used in the translation of the Gospel of Luke, published in 2014. A Bible translation team was formed in 2017, and since then several books have been translated. The Gospel of Mark and the Book of Acts have already been printed, while others have yet to be published. While translation work was going on, the orthography was also revised and an improved orthography was approved by the Thur Language Board in 2020. The JESUS Film was recorded in Thur in 2020.
